how Inconsiderate!

Little frail old lady roughly late 80'5 - early 90's

I mean falling ill in the middle of a crowded Icelands store. Don't you realize I have shopping to do, Places to go, People to see.
I mean surely you'd be better off taking ill on the street alone! So now I will rush past you rolling my eyes, Tutting and generally being annoyed at my misfortune of taking 5 minutes longer!

NO! no of course I didn't say or do this but plenty did, And quite frankly it's annoyed me.
I mean what if it were their Nan there surely they'd help right?!

So I walk into Icelands and a little old lady approaches me ' Excuse me darling I really don't feel well I think I'm going to faint'
'Ok love stay with me I'll get you help' came my reply
So I held onto her whilst alerting a member of staff, Requesting a chair and some water which they supplied.

All the while this frail old lady kept saying to me 'Why are you doing this for me, Why are you being so kind to me' To which my reply came 'Because I want to you are unwell and I'm going to help you' Poor love couldn't thank me enough whilst at the same time she was confused, so confused as to why I would take time out of my day to help her.

Now maybe I'm from another planet and lets face it I could well be, But isn't it common courtesy and morals to stop and help? so my journey took 5 minutes longer but you know what?.... I got my shopping, got my lunch and got home in one piece no catastrophe happened.

It really upset me how inconsiderate others can be, But I know that in this lady's time of need, I stopped and helped so my conscience is clear.

  1. It's just basic human decency. Sadly our society is rapidly losing the ability to be basically decent and it's a crying shame. Thank goodness you were there.

  2. Wow, some people really need to sort themselves out, how can they be so inconsiderate. Thankfully for the lady, at least one person with decency was around to help.

  4. Thank goodness you helped her. We will all be old one day, you did what any decent human being should, helped someone in their hour of need. Hope she is ok now.

  6. What a lovely thing for you to do. I would have done the same. Like you say, if it was my relative, I would hope someone would do the same. It is a shame there are so many people that can't be bothered these days.

  8. What a lovely thing to do. Her response is a little sad, almost implies she'd not been helped before. Well done you. I still feel indebted to the stranger that ripped out my maxi dress when it got stuck in an escalator at Marble Arch in rush hour. Not embarrassing at all!!!

  9. I'd always stop and offer help, it really saddens me that people are in such a rush and can't stop to help.

  10. My Mum fell in the street once and not one person picked her up. I make sure that I am always kinder than I need to be

  11. Well done for doing what so many others wouldn't. So many people walk on by, just too busy and wrapped up in their own lives to notice others around them.

  12. You did absolutely the right thing but not everyone would and that is the infuriating shame of it. I hope she was ok after a sit down and something to drink x

  14. People often forget how the small things make such a big difference. I remember going out into town a couple of times while feeling really rubbish (baby not slept, hair resembling a birds nest... you get the idea) and the simple act of someone holding a door open, smiling as they walk past or offering you a seat on the bus just cheers you up. I know it is a little off topic, but I have a rule now that when I see a mum looking a bit stressed or tired, I give them a little smile. It has made me feel better when others have done it to me, so I figure why not!

  16. Some people are just...not all that. We all get old and which of us would want ignoring of we were ill? Well done you :)

  17. I can't even understand how anyone could not help in that kind of situation, but it seems it happens :( I'm glad you were there to help her!
