..... well no the 22nd October to be exact but hey ho!
Wednesday 22nd was the bonfire event at the kiddies school.
We paid £2 for the whole family which was nice and cheap for an event that run from 6pm -7pm which included a bonfire, potato and leek soup, garlic bread, and hot chocolate, with a £1.50 charge for a pack of 6 sparklers if you so wish.
What a fun hour the kiddies had listening to the song's being sung by one of the teachers with her guitar and kiddies singing along, they had their weight in hot chocolate and soup and baby enjoyed the garlic bread and was happy to watch everyone having fun, it really was a good event.
Does your child's school do things like this? and if so do you go along or would you if your childs school did?
Have you any plans for 5th November?
Whatever you are doing be sure to have fun but most important of all stay safe!
i wish more schools or places did events like this, i really dislike people having there own at home, for several reasons, pets get scared, elderly get scared, babies might not like them, and so many people get injured each year by doing there own ones.....it is so much safer to go to a licened event and you get to see so much more for your money so it is much more enjoyable. it is safer and it is more fun. i will be taking my son to our local school event, where they play music and fireworks togehter that results with a big classical number, pefectly timed with bangs and explosions at the critical drum parts....it is brilliant. lastly it also means i am helping to support my local school and help them raise funds for themselves and or charities....all in all a brilliant night out!
ReplyDeleteI agree more places should do events, and at affordable prices, as a family of 6 to got to a full on display can get quite costly, so for £2 for us all (excluding Daddy who had to work) I think is great value.
DeleteI also agree about the safety aspect of doing fireworks at home, fireworks and bonfires can be fun when done in the correct way.
A great idea. Our local school doesn't do unfortunately but would go if they did as all the kids would see their friends. We will be going to the big firework display at Cassiobury Park in Watford which is always good and the kids like the light up toys they sell
ReplyDeleteyes my children's last school never done this, and apparently this was the 1st time their new school done it, but they've had a tough term with head teacher leaving, and other couple of teachers leaving so they wanted to give the children and staff something to enjoy, and they really did, they loved it.
DeleteSounds lovely do you go every year?
Yes we go every year to Cassiobury firework display with family and friends. It is always really good and nice atmosphere :-)
Deletethat's a pretty good idea for a school to do this, I would feel safer at a School display and bonfire than at a cricket ground event I think, not sure why I just get a bit nervous at big displays when we take the kids!
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean maybe it's because it's the school setting and teachers care for our children, I know what I mean!
DeleteI also get nervous at large events especially as my hubby was at work so I had all 4 children in my care but they were well behaved and had great fun.
Our local school has never done this, we looked into the cost to do a display when i worked on the PTFA and it was just too much for the insurance for such a small school so we haven't been able to. saying that as a mum we are planning to take the children to a local display on the 29th November which will be on the beach near us
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely fireworks on a beach!
Deletethis technically wasn't a display as in with fireworks but sparklers and the bonfire, food and toasting marshmallows, and for that reason regarding the insurance as was what the head teacher said.
But it was a lovely event and the children and I enjoyed.
